(7/7/2011 Springfield, IL) Putting fun in funnel cake for its third year, the Corndog Kick-off is set to serve up samples inside the Orr Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 16, starting at 5:30 p.m.
This fair-food grazing party is a benefit for the Illinois State Museum Foundation. The annual event includes live and silent auctions as well as music plus other attractions.
The Kick-off also marks the naming of 2011’s Illinoisans of the Day. The Museum Foundation and Illinois State Fair officials work together to recognize outstanding community members across the Prairie State. Each of these ten citizens, chosen by the museum foundation, will be honored during the upcoming fair.
Tickets cost $40 in advance, $50 at the door. To order, call (217) 415-4408.
The nonprofit State Fair Museum Foundation works to preserve fair artifacts and memories. Its collection will be free and open to the public during the fair, August 12-21, under the north end of the Grandstand.
