There are many attractions at the Illinois State
Fair that make the fair an exciting place to be! One attraction has been
around for more than 70 years, but still offers something new every year. The
Butter Cow is a must see State Fair attraction.
Every year the cow is sculpted
by Sharon BuMann. Every year she spends two days in a refrigerated cooler
sculpting the cow out of about 600 pounds of unsalted butter. Here's a fun fact: The butter used to sculpt the cow is recycled and used to make other
sculptures!
This delightful attraction is located in the Dairy Building. When you come out to the fair this year make sure you take a picture of the Butter Cow and share it on social media. Use the hashtag #ISawTheButterCow
