       THROWBACK THURSDAY

Have you seen the Avondale?

The State Fair Manger's house is located about a block east of the Dairy Building, along Central Avenue.   This historic building is an integral part of the fair's operations.
The home was built on the fairgrounds in 1911 by the Sears-Roebuck’s company as a model display home.  Back then you could purchase all the materials needed to construct this six-room bungalow for just $1,242.00!
This year is the first time in ten years that the house will have a permanent resident. State Fair Manager Patrick Buchen and his wife are making this piece of history their permanent home, and it is their hope that this piece of state fair history will live on for many years to come.
